Dental
Implants
Frequently Asked
Questions
Q. Are Dental
Implant always successful?
A. With over
3 decades of clinical success and over a million patients treated, crowns, and
bridges supported my dental implants are very highly successful. Statistics
show that nearly 95% for individual implants and even higher for the bridges
they support are successful. Dental implants placed in patients more than 35
years ago are still functioning today!
Q. Will I
be able to chew with the same force and pressure that I use with my natural
teeth?
A. Yes, Studies
have shown that chewing efficiency improves significantly after treatment with
dental implants. After a brief adaptation period, chewing efficiency is
comparable to that of the natural teeth.
Q. Will I
ever need a root canal on my dental implant?
A. No, since
the implant completely replaces the tooth and root structure, you will never
have to worry about cavities or root canals.
Q. If I
wear dentures now could I benefit from dental implants?
A. Yes,
denture wearing individuals are an excellent candidate for dental implants. By acting
as an “artificial root”, a dental implant will preserve remaining bone
eliminating the typical “puckered lip look” that is so common among denture wearers.
Q. I have a
single missing tooth, can a dental implant prevent my natural teeth from
shifting?
A. Yes, by
filling in the void caused by the missing tooth, I can prevent my existing
teeth from shifting out of their original locations causing unsightly mal-alignment.
